Updated background music complements Casa Largo’s new look

Casa Largo, a Spanish-style restaurant in Helsinki, updated its background music to reinforce a modernised brand identity and enhance guest experience. Tailored playlists — calmer during the day and livelier in the evening — include groove, disco and house, and have improved both staff morale and customer atmosphere. The collaboration with Toneco delivered music that fits the restaurant’s concept and elevates the overall experience.

A little piece of Spain in the middle of Helsinki, Casa Largo is a Spanish-style restaurant where guests can stop by for drinks and tapas or enjoy a longer evening in good company. The food is not just a dish on a plate — it’s an experience accompanied by friendship, enhanced by the right cava or wine.

The restaurant wanted to modernise its concept and clarify its brand identity. The staff reviewed competitive advantages and the message they wanted to convey. Although a full brand overhaul was not the goal, they decided to refresh the background music to better suit daily operations and improve the comfort of both customers and employees.

The update began with a meeting to map needs, preferences, and music goals. A test playlist was created as the basis for a functional music concept that aligned with the brand. Playlists were tailored to different times of day and days of the week: calmer music during daytime and faster tempo towards evening. The result includes a mix of groove, disco, and house.

“Although we are a Spanish restaurant, we didn’t limit the music to Spanish language — and I think that was a great decision. The night playlist is spot-on, featuring well-known songs that people can sing along with — there has even been dancing to the music, even though we are not a nightclub,” says Restaurant Manager Miika Huhtaniska.

The branded music has had a positive impact on both staff and customers. Staff maintain the atmosphere the music supports, and customers notice it. There is no longer a need to skip tracks that don’t fit the style. “Our collaboration has been smooth. We’ve received help when needed and the playlists created for us have been truly high quality. I wouldn’t have had time to create playlists myself, and they wouldn’t have been nearly as good, functional, or extensive,” Miika adds.
